Event:The Checks + The Delta Riggs + The Walking Who

Back in 2001 this little band of American; bone crushingly pretty rich boys came out with probably one of the most important records of our time. That album was ‘Is This It’. And the band you might of heard of….just maybe… they called themselves The Strokes. The Checks aren’t the Strokes. But the significance of this tale is that like many bands around this time upon hearing this album for the first time they decided to start a band. And the world is a much much better place for it. However unlike most of this other starry eyed outfits being born around this time The Checks did not imitate their idols rather they cleared their own path of musical creativity that comes in the form of blues driven high energy rock and roll.

Originating from our sister country of New Zealand the band was picked up by worldwide taste maker music publication NME to do their tour over in the UK even before they had the chance to record their first album. After being signed to a subsidiary label of Sony BMG the boys went away with legendary producer Liam Broudie and recorded their killer debut ‘Hunting Whales”. And I guess from that point on the rest was history; consisting of their recording of their second album receiving equally rave reviews as their first effort and a whole lot of touring! As a decade has now passed since their momentous formation the band are now proud to say they have just completed their highly anticipated third release produced by Bassy Bobby Brockman in New York City. The title of this LP is still to be announced but excitingly enough before this bundle of joy hits the stores and internet waves The Checks have planned to preview this material at Beach Road Hotel for our lucky Sideshow Wednesday audiences. Joining them with be dirty bluesy rock n rollers The Delta Riggs out of Melbourne how will undeniably get the show rolling onto a ridiculously ruckus and grooving start!
