Weezer Headed to Australia
It’s time to dust off your 1996 tour t-shirts, because
Weezer are touring Australia and
we're giving away tickets.
This is happening! This is real life! Last month, front man of the Californian alt-rock band Rivers Cuomo
posted the fairly un-subtle Facebook status, “Australia!” providing us with a glimmer of hope and a legitimate reason to stalk the shit out of his Facebook page/Twitter feed/Instagram on a regular basis. Today, Weezer have finally come through with the goods, announcing their first Australian tour for 16 years.
Just minutes ago Rivers and bassist Scott Shriner called in to triple j from the US, confirming the visit. The band will return to our Island in the Sun in January, playing a run of shows around the country. Not only will they be playing a selection of their greatest hits, but also 1994's
The Blue Album from start to finish. Welcome back Weezer, it’s been too long between drinks.
Looks like the maker of website
Weezer Hates Australia is going to have to commit blogicide, or at least make some serious adjustments to their mission statement.
FACT: Spike Jonze directed the band's second video, for 'Buddy Holly'.
