Toronto Stage Collapse Kills Radiohead Technician

A tragic stage collapse on Saturday afternoon before a Radiohead concert in Toronto has killed the band's drum tech, Scott Johnson.

Radiohead drummer Philip Selway released a statement on the Radiohead website. “We have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague. He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott’s family and all those close to him.”

Radiohead were scheduled to play to 40,000 people on Saturday night. At around 4pm the stage collapsed, killing Scott Johnson and injuring three other people. Approximately 1,000 people were already waiting at the venue when the stage collapsed, causing the show to be cancelled. The cause of the collapse is still unknown.
