A-Z of Summer Festival Artists: K-L
We have MOAR for you people sucking up the A to Z of summer festival artists, and this time we're entering the K-hole... and the L-hole. This list is a lot more fun though, we promise you. You like black metal? We've got you covered. You like grinding to some RnB? It's all good, baby baby. You like rock billied? Got that too.

Who: Kvelertak
From: Norway
Playing: Soundwave

Kvelertak are coming out for Soundwave and playing sideshows alongside Mastodon and Gojira, which is pretty freaking awesome for metal fans. Kvelertak is Norwegian for 'stranglehold' or 'chokehold', and the band's lyrics revolve around Norse mythology and Viking folklore, which basically adds up to one mad tough band.

Track 'Sultans of Satan', from their self-titled album, randomly dips into Jimi Hendrix's 'Foxy Lady' (2:06) and includes a Theremin solo (you know, those antenna-type things that sense the player's hand without being touched, aka MAGIC). This would be totally wanky by a band of any other genre, but somehow Kvelertak seamlessly pull it off. See for yourself...

Who: Kelly Rowland
From: Houston, Texas
Playing: Supafest

We don't care what you say, we're pretty excited about seeing Kelly Rowland. Haters gonna hate, but haters can't argue with four Grammy Awards and 82 million records sold worldwide throughout her Destiny's Child and solo careers. She also has a pretty rad ghetto name, born Kelendria Trene Rowland - whattababe. She's taking a break from her recent stint on the judging panel of British X Factor to get down here for Supafest, so show your appreciation and head along.

Who: Lanie Lane
From: Sydney
Playing: Falls, Southbound, Riverboats Music Festival, Playground Weekender, Golden Plains, Port Fairy Folk Festival

"The other day I wrote '(Oh Well) That's What You Get (Falling in Love With A Cowboy)' because apparently I said that in my sleep. Of course I had to write a song about that." You can see why we've fallen in love with Miss Lanie Lane (pronounced Lanny Lane, FYI), can't you? Telling us stories of heartbreak, love, lust and a good guitar through blues and rockabilly, she's gathered fans from far and wide. Since being unearthed by triple j she's sold out her first headline tour at every venue, sung with Tim Rogers on 'Trigger Finger' and is taking part in the 'Straight to You' Nick Cave tribute tour. Underachiever, right?

If that's not enough to make you sit up and pay attention, she's been given the stamp of approval by Jack White, who invited her to his Nashville studio to record a couple of tracks for Third Man Records' 'Blue Series' which you can listen to here. Crazy.

Who: Lewis Floyd Henry
From: London
Playing: Falls, Sydney Festival

You probably walk past buskers everyday - you might even go out of your way to avoid them - but we reckon if you came across Lewis Floyd Henry you'd be standing there like a slack-jawed yokel. That's how Suss'd Records were when they spotted him doing his thing on the streets of London - so much so that they immediately offered Lewis a record deal. Reminiscent of a Mississippi bluesman transported into the 21st century, Youtubers have said "When Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix and Ol' Dirty Bastard died, this guy was born." He does some amazing covers of Wu Tang, Jimi and Black Sabbath for which he does Avenger-type justice, but his album One Man & His 30w Pram is even more phenomenal.

Who: Lupe Fiasco
From: Chicago, Illinois
Playing: Supafest

Lupe Fiasco is one of the nice guys of hip-hop. Though initially disliking the genre because of the vulgarity and mysoginy of many hip-hop artists' vulgar lyrics, he began rapping his poems after hearing Nas' 1996 album It Was Written. He follows the conscious hip-hop style - similar to Common and Talib Kweli - which focuses on social issues rather than boats and hoes. He's a theatrical man, with a talent for using metaphors. We don't know anyone else that could address the issue of poor nutrition amongst black communities in the US from the perspective of a cheeseburger.
