St Kilda Festival Announces 2014 Program

St Kilda Festival Announces 2014 Program

The annual St Kilda Festival returns this February, sporting a jam-packed program featuring over 150 artists playing at over 50 venues in and around St Kilda. Running from Saturday 1 to Sunday 9 the 34th edition of the Festival will close, as always, with the iconic Festival Sunday - a massive day of free music for all ages.

Festival Sunday attracted over 400,000 Melburnians last year - and this year looks set to shatter that statistic. Over at the main stage, punters can look forward to sets from experimental theesome Art Vs Science, melodic crooners Busby Marou, Mat McHugh from The Beautiful Girls, indie-rock outfit Kingswood, Alison Wonderland and a whole heap more.

A slew of other local acts will be playing across the festivals six other stages on Festival Sunday, including Melbourne favourites King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Bob Evans, Gold Fields, Wave Racer, Sticky Fingers and Tully On Tully - just to name a few.

The festivals Live N Local program will run from Sunday 2 to Saturday 8 and will see local venues, restaurants and retailers open their doors to emerging local talent. For the first time, the Live N Local program will extend out of St Kilda and into parts of Port Melbourne and South Melbourne for a total of 72 gigs across 32 venues.

There'll also be a range of other family-friendly activities going on throughout the fest, such as an audio-visual celebration of St Kilda at the Palais Theatre, the Victorian Open Beach Volleyball Championship and lots of other other activities in the Kidzone and Dancezone.

While much of the festival is free, this year St Kilda Festival has launched 'Show you give a buck', a fundraising campaign encouraging festival lovers to "kick in so we can kick on."

The St Kilda festival precinct is, as always, an alcohol and car free zone during Festival Sunday. For more information on set times and Live N Local gigs, check out the website.
