Spin Off Announce Local Band Competition
It was a great day for Adelaide’s live music fans when the crew behind Splendour announced a new spin off event (named… Spin Off) exclusively for the Festival State. Featuring a selection of artists from the Splendour lineup, including Lana Del Rey, Band of Skulls and Kimbra, the one-day festival is a worthy alternative to the Byron Bay icon (and all for a measly $99).
But the good news keeps on coming, with Spin Off organisers today announcing a local band component of the event. Basically, one lucky Adelaide act will get to open the main stage of the festival (and swoon over Lana Del Rey’s gigantic lips backstage). Four local media partners - Fasterlouder, Fourwords, Fringe Benefits and Radio Adelaide - will help curate the event, each selecting one band to compete in a live final at The Ed Castle on Thursday 5 July.
Regardless of whether or not they win a coveted place on the bill, this competition will provide young bands with some massive recognition in Adelaide and beyond.
