Red Hot Chili Peppers for 2013 Big Day Out?

Red Hot Chili Peppers for 2013 Big Day Out?

As it creeps closer and closer to the Australian festival season, we see a myriad of illegitimate rumours circulating around the interwebs. Whether it’s Nirvana, Prince, Radiohead, Blink 182 or The Stone Roses, legendary names are always chucked in the rumour mill or fun, and with maybe just a little bit of wishful thinking. But this time, one of the regularly buzzed bands might just be a genuine chance for a summer appearance in 2013.

That’s right, Red Hot Chili Peppers look destined to be heading to our shores early next year. This not-quite-a-rumour stems from one of the members themselves, with Flea letting slip in a tweet that the band will be “coming to Australia early next year” and that he “can't wait to feel the connection to [his] birthplace once again”.

Putting two and two together, the tour news puts the Chilis as early contenders to headline next year’s Big Day Out. Supported by the fact that they’re due to headline Lollapalooza in a couple of months – BDO’s latest headline partner – this seems pretty genuine.

Although we can’t yet take this as gospel, the band are definitely due for an Australian visit, their last one being five years ago, back in 2007.

If the Chilli Peppers do the Big Day Out it would be fantastic for many reasons. Two being: 1. Seeing the Chilli Peppers live and and 2. The Bid Day out Tickets are cheaper than most concert tickets and you get to see heaps of other great Australian and International bands. Wooooo Hoooooo

What did everyone forget that it could also mean that they are contenders for healiners for SOUNDWAVE 2013!!!! ... But after the last couple of years BDO has been going down. So quite possibly this could be their way of putting themselves back on top of the festivals list. I've said once and i'll say it again ... Come 6 years time people won't know what BDO Festivals are.

Love the RHCP seen them twice in concert, first time took one of my daughters second time took two of my daughters and was looking forward to taking all three of my daughters to their next concert. The BDO isn't the same, been waiting such a long time for them to tour again, bit shocked and sad. But if the BDO is where they"ll be then the BDO it is.
