New Order To Tour Australia in 2012
For fans of new wave, the good news just keeps on rolling in. Not only did pioneers of the movement New Order recently reunite, but now they've let it slip they'll be heading to these merry shores very soon.

When quizzed about upcoming plans in a recent Brazilian interview, New Order's keyboardist Gillian Gilbert said that "We'll play more festivals and we are going to Australia. We're not thinking about recording for now, we're just enjoying the whole thing."

That's right. New Order + Australia. Insert jumps for joy.

It's been a little while (nine years, to be precise) since the band who popularised the '80s synth sound made an appearance down here. This time the lineup is unsurprisingly lacking bassist Peter Hook though, following a public spat a few years ago.

Could New Order's trip have something to do with for the rumoured revival of V Festival? We're sitting tightly on this one.

Went to the concert last night at the Horden Pavillion. The Support band 'The naked and Famous' were excellent, I reckon they will be big in the near future. I hadn't seen New Order since they played at Selinas at the Coogee Bay in 1987 (shows my age!) I reckon they have got better with age. Bernard actually looked like he was enjoying himself and sung in tune and the whole band really jelled. Gillian was her usual demure self and looked the same as 20 years ago, shes aged really well. The new bass player, Aussie Tom CHAPMAN did a great job and I thought was as good as Peter HOOK, though without the presence. It was an excellent nearly 2 hour performance where all their hits were played. They even played "1963", one of my favorites. They basically played the entire "Substance" greatest hits album. It was an excellent performance. I took my 14 year old son who I have introduced to the great music of the 80's and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
