Iggy Pop and Best Coast Collab for True Blood
Despite edging towards 70-years-old, Iggy Pop has shown no sign of stopping anytime soon. Last seen on our shores rolling around in the grass at Big Day Out, the rock’n’roll god has managed to whip out the wild child inside again for a song to be featured in the next episode of TV show
True Blood.
‘Let’s Boot and Rally’ has just debuted online and is a collaboration with babin’ Bethany Cosentino of Californian surf pop band Best Coast. The track is a garage-rock burner just as dark, creepy and sexy as the vampire-laden series.
Turns out Iggy’s a fan of the HBO hit, and had his people reach out to the music supervisor regarding opportunities to be involved. “I’ve always liked to bite. I guess this makes me a singing vampire, does this mean I have a licence to suck? Hi Bethany…” Iggy says of the collaboration.
This isn't the first unexpected duet on
True Blood's soundtrack, with
Nick Cave and Neko Case teaming up last year to cover 'She's Not There' by the Zombies.
Bethany will head to Australia later this year when Best Coast appear on the
Falls and Southbound festival lineups.
