Blink 182 to Return to Oz?

*** UPDATE***

It looks like the Blink rumours may be confirmed - more info here.

**************

We're pretty sure there is a direct correlation between Blink 182 breaking up in 2005 and the emo subculture taking hold as all the hardcore kids started crying. That's why it was super pleasing to hear they'd gotten back together and started recording again (mysteriously coinciding with emos fading into the background. Hmmm).

In fact, previous Aussie emo kids will most likely begin dancing in the streets when they hear of Blink 182's possible tour later this year. Though drummer Travis Barker has sworn never to fly again since being one of the only survivors in a severe plane crash that killed four people, a trip to Australia may be on the cards.

Talking to The Music Network recently, frontman Tom Delonge has said: "We're talking about coming down. It's a boat ride thing... We just put out a record but we're only doing two tours. We've already done one of them and then a year later we're gonna do the second one."

It may be a little while before they literally land on our shores though, as Delonge commented on the possible boat trip to Australia saying, "boats only happen at certain times of the year... It's a long boat ride."

Ahaha if you actually read the article, it doesn't say that Blink is Emo music. "We're pretty sure there is a direct correlation between Blink 182 breaking up in 2005 and the emo subculture taking hold as all the hardcore kids started crying. " They are saying, tongue-in-cheek, that Emo subculture emerged as a result of Blink 182 disbanding. I've been hearing this rumour for a couple of years now and was wondering what was taking so long. The boat idea never occurred to me, I guess it's fair enough though after what Travis has been through. Hope they make it here!

Your talking about my favourite band of all time here? Emo? I think not. Pop punk guys, pop punk. Would love an email of how you personally relate a highschool punk band as "EMO." Where are the lyrics where they cut their veins etc? Terrible there. Nonetheless, really excited about Blink coming to Australia. Thanks for letting us know.
