Australian Leg of Madonna Tour Cancelled
Madonna has reportedly called off the Australian leg of her MDNA world tour,
breaking Ruby Rose’s heart along with her legion of devoted fans.
According to
news.com.au, her manager Guy Oseary informed tour promoter Live Nation of the cancellation overnight, with the official announcement taking place this morning. Show dates were originally meant to be released on July 12, before being postponed to after the Olympics - this new revelation will no doubt come as a blow to Madge's supporters, many of who have waited 20 years for her return to Australia.
While Live Nation has issued no statement as to the reason for the cancellation, rival promoters are suggesting that the overcrowded summer music market is to blame. The Melbourne and Sydney shows were expected to take place in January, right in the heart of festival season.
Frustrated fans have turned to Twitter to vent their ire towards the Queen of Pop, with Ruby Rose leading the tirade.
"It's the third tour she has cancelled on Australia and its probably one too many. The first times at least were understandable" she posted earlier today.
Amongst the disappointment we can only direct you to the silver lining: tickets were rumoured to be priced at up to $600 a pop. That’s some big savings right there. Perhaps you could spend a fraction of it on a cone bra and a Madonna tour DVD instead and bring the concert to your lounge room.
