Darlinghurst Theatre Company Find New Digs
Next year Darlinghurst Theatre Company
are rolling everything up in newspaper and moving house. The shift has been in the making for a little while, with the company looking to create a more sustainable space.
Their new digs will be inside Burton Street's Tabernacle, a heritage-listed building which was originally a church back in the 1800s. The venue is getting a six million dollar facelift by the architects behind Customs House, Hyde Park Barracks and CarriageWorks, and will be renamed The Eternity Playhouse.
The performing arts space is set to seat more than 200 and will host a range of performances, classes, exhibitions and events. There's still a little wait ahead, with the Eternity Playhouse expected to open its doors in January 2013, but we're hanging out for one helluva housewarming.
