Festival Season Tips
When you throw yourself headlong into the world of music, moshing and madness this summer, you need to make sure you’re kitted out and equipped for everything that comes your way.
During his work shooting people and cities around the world,
I Dig Your Sole’s Lester Jones has learnt a thing or two about footwear. He’s here to make sure you’re prepared in every way from the feet up, so here are some short, sharp style ideas that you can take from the street to the festival circuit.
1) Rock Out
Ronnie is the guitarist in the band Lush and lives, breathes and dresses rock and roll. He wears his Converse All Stars 24/7 and is convinced they are THE shoe for music lovers.
Whether you’re performing or in the crowd, Cons are a safe bet. Ronnie, Kurt Cobain, Karen O and countless others can’t be wrong.
2) Splash of Colour
Festivals are a colourful experience, so make sure you’re dressed to impress with some bold, bright and brilliant shoes. The right shoes can help inject some colour and style into your festival experience so be brave, be daring, and prepare to dazzle.
3) Push Your Shoes to the Limit
Go hard or go home. It’s a simple motto, and one that’s fitting for anyone planning to get into the festival spirit.
While you push yourself to the limit, be mindful that your shoes will be under the pump too so use whatever it takes to keep them together, whether it’s gaffer tape, shoe goo, or luck.
4) All White is Not Alright
Mud + sweat + spilt beer + mosh pits + white shoes = bad idea! If your favourite kicks are bright and white, leave them at home. They won’t stay pristine for long if you’re planning to get amongst it.
5) Use the Woodstock Wow Factor
Kevin rocks the Festival look 24/7. If you fancy channeling a Woodstock vibe this summer, break out some bold colour, break out the beads, and go lo-fi with your footwear. Dog is optional.
6) The Big No-No
The biggest and simplest Festival (and style) rule of them all; under no circumstances should you wear Crocs. Ever.
I Dig Your Sole Man is a street blog focusing on urban style and the role of sneakers in the lives of everyday people.
We all have at least one pair of kicks in our closet and you would be amazed at the stories that simple footwear represents…
